Well it all started the other day when Tamara and I were discussing who she would like to invite to her upcoming birthday party. She was listing off her soccer team and all the kids in her class that she wanted to invite. She said that she definitely wanted to invite Ivan because he likes to have fun and named off a few others that were must invites. Then she says "But I don't want to invite Davis." "Why?" I reply. She said that he had asked her to marry him but she had told him no. I said "Why did you tell him no?" (I said this being curious but secretly glad that my daughter was not accepting any proposals of marriage at 5.) She replies in a matter of fact tone, "I said no because he is a fat boy and I don't want to marry a fat boy."
Not wanting to embarrass her by laughing I reply, "Well you don't have to marry a fat boy if you don't want to." But in the back of my mind I'm wondering, is she thinking in her mind that she is so tiny that she couldn't marry someone "fat" because they are not the same or am I raising a extremely shallow 5 year old?
In Tamara's defense Adam did say that Davis reminds him of the little fat kid on Willy Wonka. Maybe she doesn't realize that "fat boys" can be "romantic boys" too.
