easy bake ovens are not so easy

So we have been promising Tamara that she can make these cupcakes that she got with her easy bake. Today was the day. Just a word of advice. Don't get your daughter an easy bake oven. It's just easier to make real cupcakes and have them decorate them rather than fooling around with the not-so-accurate directions they give you on easy bake recipes. I (yes I said "I" because despite the fact that it's Tamara's toy it's not all that kid friendly) had to make 3 batches of cupcakes before they looked close to the cupcakes on the package. I also had to deviate from the recipe just to get them to look halfway decent. But now we have this large contraption (the oven itself) that takes up lots of space and doesn't really work stuck in our kitchen. Even mentioning the possibility of getting rid of the oven puts a dramatic frown on Tamara's face. So what's a mom to do?

Maybe it could "accidentally" fall on the ground and break.
Not sure how believable that would be, Tamara is pretty smart. Even if she believed it was an accident she would inevitably decide she needed a replacement.
Any ideas???

i have no suggestion whatsoever. i am years away from the easy bake oven stage, thank goodness. however, i know time will "fly by" as your first post reminds me. no one told me you got into the blog-o-sphere. i just happened to noticed a new link on delana's list of obsessions. so glad to have found you! i can't wait to keep reading. love, sarah

Sister~ I used to have an easybake oven and I think my Mom just grumbled her way through it. I don't know maybe she had fun...but all I can tell you, in all honesty...in my little girl head, it was the coolest thing I had...cuz I could bake like Mommy. I know that doesn't help at all...but just to let you know...the stage did wear out. I got interested in other things. Tamara as we all can see is alot like me when I was younger and...well...I didn't stay on one stage very long, I was all over the place...so maybe when school starts and she is with friends she will forget and move on from the horrid easybake oven. Then you can celebrate your freedom!
